My interests in research are centered around reproductive endocrinology. My current Master’s project looks at the presence of a corticotropin-releasing-factor (CRF) signalling system within Zebrafish ovarian tissue. Although there’s a good deal of characterization of similar systems in mammals, comparatively little ground work has been done in teleosts. At present, results suggest the ov-CRF system works to inhibit gonadotropin-induced steroidogenesis in the developing ovarian follicle, though a great deal of work remains in understanding when this system is activated, and what the ultimate result of its activity is.
