We are recruiting MSc and PhD students to join our research team to develop new approaches to water treatment using photosynthetic microorganisms. Together with industry partners, we are working to develop and test a modular nutrient removal system for municipal wastewater treatment utilizing phototrophic microorganisms. As an MSc or PhD student in this project, you will be involved in conducting experiments and generating data on cyanobacteria and purple photosynthetic bacteria biofilms, conducting trials with both artificial and natural wastewater, and analyzing various parameters critical to the water treatment field. Your contributions will play a key role in developing next generation water treatment technologies for wastewater treatment in Canada. You will be working closely with the research team in the Heylandlab and collaborate with industry partners. Basic requirements are microbiology skills, ideally with photosynthetic organisms, excellent analytical and research skills, ability to work effectively in a team and independently. We are looking for motivated forward-thinking students. Submit your application by July 5th to [email protected], including up to date CV, unofficial transcripts and statement of interest. Feel free to reach out if you require further information.
